Girl's Trip Review

7/24/2017

Watch this movie with your girlfriends! This movie literally had me laughing throughout the whole movie. But this wasn’t just a movie you could laugh through, it also has some relatable themes. I can think of most of my friends who I have not hung out with in in moths for the sheer reason that we have different life paths.
After watching this movie, it made me want to call up the friends who I had lost touch with but I didn’t because I know that they were not real friendships like the ones I have made in college but I was expecting this movie just to be funny and it ended up going above and beyond my expectations. Now you could go and watch this movie and just laugh the entire time but you could also learn some valuable lessons like friends matter more than boys, always try to enjoy life, and always have those people that you can tell anything.
Girls trip is truly a movie for the girls. It had lots of underlying themes of your power. This speech towards the end of the movie was very empowering and I feel that a lot of women will be able to relate to the message of the speech because the women that says it is talking about dealing a cheating partner and staying in the relationships because it felt safer and not tell her friends and letting those relationship fade into the background because she knew her friends would be able to tell something was wrong.  I honestly got chocked up and teary eyed at the speech because even though I have never been in this type of relationship I have had friends who have been in these toxic relationships and they would not listen to us just him.
I give Girl’s Trip overall 4 stars and recommend this movie to everyone. It has some powerful messages and will make you laugh.

Spiderman: Homecoming Review

7/12/2017

I think that this has to be my favorite Marvel movie. It was just amazing. I will admit it was a little slow but I can forgive that one flaw because it more than excels in other categories. I found this movie to be very relatable even though I am a 19-year-old girl, I think that when a movie takes place in high school that almost anyone can find the characters relatable because we have all been there. So even though I will never be Spiderman, I can relate to Peter Parker and his high school problems. This was definitely a coming of age movie because Peter though out the while movie was trying to figure out his place, he wants, though out this whole movie, to be an Avenger and go on dangerous missions since Germany but he thinks that no one is taking him seriously.
Even though this movie takes place after Civil War and Spiderman is already introduced to the world, I really wish that we knew about his origin story’s. All of the Sideman’s follow the basic getting bit by a spider but the other movies had a storyline that made sense for them to be bit and then have the antagonists they had. I also would like to know what happened to his uncle because they never specify how he died just that Aunt May super over protective.
I am a little sad that Zendaya’s part in this movie was just to provided comic relief (she did a great job though) but I am excited to see more of her. If you haven’t read it anywhere else or didn’t not catch it she is going to be perter next love interest, she calls herself MJ at the end of the movie (Mary Jane!!). I am also convinced that she already knows that Peter is Spiderman because she is very observant and quiet and those people are always the first to know things.
I am really excited to see what the Marvel movies have in store for Spiderman (2019 cant come soon enough). I am curious to see if Spiderman will appear in the Infinity Wars movies because I am not that familiar with the comics story line and at the end of the movie Peter wanted to continue to be a neighborhood friendly Spiderman and not an Avenger.
Anyways, I really recommend you watch this movie, it is exceptional and a great feel-good movie! And Tom Holland is the best Spiderman and Peter Parker! And he is really hot!!<3 Just saying.

Summer TV Roundup

7/7/2017

Hello lovely people. Its summer! Which means that I can get caught up on shows I was not able to watch during the school year (thank you Hulu and Netflix). There are also a few tv shows that are on the summer season that I am excited to watch!

On Air

Shadowhunters (Freeform)-Mondays @ 8/7c
This summer is the season 2b airing of Shadowhunters. I am very excited to see how this show is going to go. They have not really stuck with the books (can anyone say Pretty Little Liars) but they have done a good job if you forget about them.

Still Star Crossed (ABC)- Sundays @ 10/9c
This show is about the aftermath of Romeo and Juliet and how their family and the city of Verona will fair. I really like this show, eben if it has not been coming on air every week. The story line is really interesting so I can wait.

The Bold Type (FreeForm)- Tuesdyas @ 8/7c
Advertised as being inspired by the women of Cosmo, the show follows three women who are trying to work their way to the top of the magazine they work at. I am really excited to watch this show, it looks really funny and totally relatable.

Teen Wolf (MTV)-Sundays@ 8/7c staring July 30th
The final 10 episodies of Teen wolf that will ever be made are aring at the end of the summer and I can honestly say I can not wait and I can at the same time. Once the show ends it will be very bitter sweet because I started watching this show when I was a freshman in high school and I am about to be a sophomore in college, I have grown along with characters.

Descendants 2- (Disney)- July 22
So, I know that this is not a tv show but I loved the first Descendants and honestly this is the best thing that Disney has produced in a long time (bedsides Girl Meets World) and I think everyone should see it. It is about the kids of the original Disney villains who were locked away on an island apart from the good people and they got a chance to live with the good kids and they change and in this movie, they go back to the island of the villains.

Shows I’m watching on Netflix
  • Quantico (Season2)
  • Criminal Minds
  • Reign ( The final Season)
  • Agents of Shield (Season 4)
  • Glow (Season 1)
  • Jane the Virgin (Season 3)
  • Scandal (Season 5-6)
  • Riverdale (Season 1)

Shows I’m Watching on Hulu
  • UnReal (Season 2)
  • The Good Wife (Season 1-6)
  • The Handmaids Tale (Season 1)
  • Rizzoli & Isles (The Last Season)
  • Famous In love (season 1)

Throne of Glass Book Review

Can I just say that I this book is amazing and everyone should read it. I literally could not wait to read this book that after I ordered the paperback copy and it was taking too long to be shipped to me, I bought the e-book on my phone and read the whole thing before the actual book got to me.
So I am also currently reading dividing Eden and this book just read smoother, if that makes sense. It was really hard to put this book down and the story just drew me in. I was not surprised to read that this book was developed over 10 years, it was really well thought out and developed.
My favorite thing about this book was that the author gave us bits and pieces of characters back stories and the history of how they got to this point. She weaved this story while giving us some back story and leaving us to wonder what she was not telling us. I think that this aspect really strengthened the story because everyone was hiding secrets an you didn’t know how to trust someone’s perspective because they all ha things to hide.
I was honestly heartbroken that Celena was such a realist and she never got to truly explore her relationship with Dorian because she knew she could not sacrifice the part of herself that would be needed to be involved with a family member of the king. And it did not help that the author put in the point of view of Dorian and he seemed to be so in love with her, it truly broke my heart.
This is probably the best book that I have read this summer and I would whole-heartily recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Hello lovely readers, I know it has been awhile since I posted but I got very busy with family drama and college finals (js I got all A’s on my tests!). but I am very committed to bettering my blog this summer. That is what this post is all about, my summer goals! The summer solstice was just the other day, so it is officially summer!

  1. Post 1 to 2 articles on my blog a week + be active on social media accounts
  2. Learn Spanish
  3. Get through my TBR pile + review them
  4. Work on my travel bucket list
  5. Get ready for my first apartment!!!
  6. Write

So, these goals are very broad, but I wanted goals that I could meet but also if I did not meet them I would not feel disappointed in myself. I also babysit three days a week so I basically lose those days to watching children. I think that I can reach these goals, i am very determined to be productive this summer!

Power Rangers (2017) Movie Review

4/6/2017

Picture

This movie in three words: Oh My Rita! I loved this movie, this may be my favorite movie of the year. This movie brought back so many childhood memories and just a sense of nostalgia. I literally was always watching power rangers when I was a child because my brother was obsessed with them. So I have been looking forward to this movie for a long time. I was so happy with this movie. I think they did a great job. I was semi confused that they seem to make a big deal out of the coins in the trailers but in the movie after they were found, they were basically forgotten. You know I usually do not watch a movie if there is no romance but I was glad they took the kiss out of the final movie that was shown in the trailers because the scene that it happened in would have been ruined. The portrayal of the characters by the actors was so good, they made them their own and I found myself being able to relate to, in some way, to each of them. This movie keep me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole movie, there was an unexpected twist and I was for sure that the power rangers were not going to win. The Zords were amazing and I could not help but be in awe of the technology that made it possible. Overall this movie was amazing, it was the right levels of funny and serious. The Power Rangers were characters that this generation could relate too. I did not get to see the post credit scene because I did not know there was one but I know what happens and I cannot wait for the sequel!

My TV Shows of 2017!

2/13/2017

Hey guys! Sorry this list is coming at such a late time but I’m still trying to adjust back to my college schedule.

Sundays

Shades of Blue
March 5, 2017-Sunday @9pm
I am literally obsessed with crime shows and this show is has all my favorite elements; crime, sabotage, love, and suspence. I binge watched this show on Hulu and I cant wait till March.

Mondays

Shadowhunters
Freeform- @7pm
I understand that when a book gets made into a tv show or a movie there is going to be some deviations from the story line but I feel like the tv show timeline is moving way to fast and they are changing way too many things. I still like the tv show but I have to forget about the books. And they killed off Jocelyn!! Like she become an integral part of the story line in the later books.

Jane The Virgin
CW- @8pm
So I literally just got caught up with this season like yesterday and I am so excited to watch this show again. So even though what’s his name died it means that Jane and Raf can be together. I really excited to see what has happened 3 years later!

Timeless
NBC- @9pm
This was probably the best winter tv show I watched. I love history and time travel.

Tuesday

Teen Wolf
MTV- Summer 2017
Honestly I did not really like the first part of the last season and I hope that the last part of the final season is better. I feel like they really focused on Stiles and Lydia and not Scott, who is the main main character. I am going to stick with this show till the end though!

Wednesday

The 100
CW- @8pm
Love, Love, Love this show! I really hope that Bellarke happens this season, because I will be really sad if the end of the world does not throw them together.

The Magicians
Syfy- @8pm
So I also binge watched this show before the season 2 premier.  I fell in love with this show. I think that I would literally die if I found out that my favorite book world was true (Percy Jackson World FYI). This show is all kinds of awesome!

Thursday

Powerless
NBC- @7:30
I think that I will literally watch any show that has to do with superhero’s. but this show is really funny and I find myself turning to this show when I need a break.

Riverdale
CW- @8pm
Like I said I really like mystery shows and the CW is just great at putting on shows. This show has a comic book base that I have never heard up but this is a great show.

Friday

The Vampire Diaries
CW- @7pm
The final season! And Elania is coming back. This show was kind of lost fro a little bit and a lot of crazy things happened but I hope they end on a good note!

The Magicians Season 1 Overview

SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!

What can I say about this show other than it is the best thing on my tv (computer, Thank god for Netflix). Guys I literally binge watched it in less than two days while still having college classes, college homework, and extracurricular activities. I love that this show is not afraid to push the boundaries of what direction to send their characters.
I think that I love this show because I think I would literally die if my favorite childhood book turned out to be true and I got to explore that world (Percy Jackson Series FYI). I also love that this show makes me laugh with one liners that the characters seem to slip into the dialogue so easily. The timeline is a little confusing I must say but nothing can be perfect.
I know this is going to sound weird but the show reminds me of Game of Thrones but with much less death, the Beast gouged out that dude’s eyes in the first few episodes and in the season finale he cut off Penny’s hand like WTH! And also, the scene with the God and Julia, I really was not expecting that but in a way I was, if that makes sense.
I cannot wait for season two which premieres January 25,2017 8/7c on Syfy! Tune in you will not be disappointed!!

Movies I Want to See In 2017!

1/19/2017

Hello lovely people of the internet! I feel like 2017 is going to be a great year for movies. We are getting a ton of sequels and some re-vamps. I am so excited to watch these movies! I have placed the trailers to the movies below each movie for quick access to the wonder movies  coming out this year

The Space Between Us- February 3,2017
Starring Asa Butterfeild and Britt Robertson. Gardner is the first human who was born on Mars and travels to Earth and meet Tulsa, a girl who he only chatted with on the internet. They go on a grand adventure while on the run from the scientist who learn Gardner cannot survive on Earth. Before I even knew what this movie was about I wanted to watch it because Britt Robertson is in it and she is an amazing actress.
                             https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x73-573aWfs

Fifty Shades Darker- February 10, 2017
OMG I am so excited for this movie. I know that some people see the love story as being messed up but I think it’s cute and it’s a story of forgiveness and acceptance. I could do without the more explicit scenes but what can you do? This is a sequel and hopefully it is lives up or is better than the first one!
                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnLqJLeTMVU

Power Rangers-March 24, 2017
Ok so I think that I might be way to excited to see this movie considering I’m a girl but I have a younger brother and power rangers was all we used to watch so I kind of grew on me. I love that this movie is unlike any of the other power ranger stories that I have seen; for one the rangers do not know each other. It stars Naomi Scott and I am a big fan of her!
                           https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kIe6UZHSXw

Wonder Women- June 2
So I am not that familiar with the DC universe ( I’m more of a Marvel girl) but I am very excited to see this movie. It looks really good and has a great story line that connects to movies coming out later in the year!! This will be the first superhero movies that is focused on a women (Girl Power!!!)
                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q8fG0TtVAY

Spiderman: Homecoming – July 7
So this is like the 3rd try at this character in a movie so maybe this will be very successful because I do not know how many different but same story lines they can come up with. I like that this movie is going to include Iron Man and that there is still some mystery surrounding the characters in the movie!
                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNE0zRNyXuc

Justice League- November 17
I am sucker for a superhero movie, especially one where lots of superhero’s come together. This movie look really good and I have high hopes for this movie.
                                  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIHH5-HVS9o

Thor: Ragnarok- November 3
So I do not know much about what this movie since there is no actual trailer but I know it includes the Hulk but I am sad to say it does not include Jane :’(
                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVnBBjjjAnY

Star Wars: Episode VIII- December 22
Can we talk about what a cliffhanger the last movie left us with, I can’t wait to see what happens. Honestly I only started watching these movies to have something in common with my dad but these are great movies!

Honorable Mentions:
Hidden Figures-January 6
Before I Fall- March 3
Baywatch- May 26
Pitch Perfect- December 22

The Best of 2016!

1/1/2017

Hello lovely people of the internet, welcome to my post about the best of my 2016. If you didn’t think that 2016 was a tough year, then I want to know where you were living. But there is always good in a bad situation and these are my favorite of 2016.

TV Shows

  1. Pitch
Now I am not really a big sports fan and I know nothing really about sports but I loved this show. The story line was well written and it was about girl power!

  1. Stranger Things
Now this show is all kinds of awesome and if you haven’t watched it I seriously suggest watching in ASAP. I am not ashamed to say I watched this show in about two days. I am so excited for season two!

  1. Timeless
I fell in love with this show. I love shows that incorporate time travel and history. And of course, the super-secret funder who secretly is working with both parties and the bad guy that may be good.

  1. The 100
While I did not quite enjoy this season as much as the earlier seasons, especially because the killed off Lincoln, but events in this season paved the way for my ship to sail-Belarke! So, I can’t wait to see what happen next season!

  1. Agents of S.E.I.L.D.
Well this show is still hopping along but I can’t blame them because they have to stay in the story line of the bigger movies and they can’t give too much away. But I live the whole inhuman story line but I wish they would expand more into it.

Honorable Mentions
Conviction, Notorious, New Girl, American Housewife, Shadowhunters, Dead of Summer, Guilt

Movies

  1. Fifth Wave
I love this movie. This was probably the best movie I saw in 2016 and one of the best book to movie adaptations that I have ever seen.

  1. Bad Moms
If you ever need a good laugh I 100% recommend you watch this movie. I hear that this movie is getting sequel so I hope it is as funny as the first one.

  1. How to be Single
I would describe this movie as a coming of age movie for twentysomethings and I think anyone who has had constant boyfriends should watch this movie and try to learn something from it. I know I did.

  1. Pride, Prejudice, & Zombies
So, I have never read the original book or the book for this movie but after I saw this amazing movie I read both book and I loved these books!

  1. The Shallows
This movie was great. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire movie. Blake Lively is an amazing actress and she did wonderful in this movie.

Honorable Mentions
Deepwater Horizon, The Edge of Seventeen, Captain America: Civil War, Rouge One

  1. Recreated by Colleen Houck
This is the second book in the Reawakened series and let me tell you, this book will change your life. When I got my hands on this book I devoured it in less than 24 hours. I recommend this book series to all my friends who ask.

  1. The Last Star by Rick Yancy
This is the final book in the series and it was the best. The second book was a little slow and had perspectives I did not care for so I was very excited to see what my favorite characters were up to.

  1. Lost Girl by Chanda Hahn
I love when authors put a twist on the classic tale of Peter Pan and put a modern twist on it. This was an amazing story that everyone should read.

So unfortunately, I did not get through my TBR pile this year as much as I wanted it to so I am only putting three on my list, but I am making it my new year’s resolution to read more books

My Life
So 2016 was a big year for me. I graduated from high school, number one! I stared college at Texas Tech University and I joined a sorority. I truly enjoyed my first semester of college and made friends and memories that will last a lifetime!
